Chocolate Covered Strawberries On Valentines Day
Who would have guessed? Most Valentines days come and go with little more than the giving of a greeting card. We typically do not even exchange gifts on this special holiday. In fact, the last Valentines day between work and the kids, we barely saw each.
However, this past valentines day was much different. My husband planned a great evening and night out. With the kids situated safely with our sitter, the evening began with a romantic dinner followed by an evening cruise. Later, it was off to the beach for a barefoot walk in the sand. The humorous part was me falling in love with chocolate covered strawberries.
My husband had given me a gift basket with delicious chocolate covered strawberries as a Valentines gift. He knew I loved chocolates, but until then just not how much. I did not even know how much I would enjoy the gift basket of biscuits, ganaches, chocolate covered strawberries.
The ganaches with dark chocolate were fantastic and the biscuits dipped in milk chocolate were extremely tasty. But, the chocolate covered strawberries were out of this world. I still dream about them even today. My husband found the gift basket with chocolates online. Since that experience, my new favorite treat is a chocolate covered strawberry.
To begin the romantic evening, before the chocolates and gift basket, he brought out flowers. It was a dozen yellow roses in a crystal vase. The restaurant turned out to be a very nice restaurant specializing in vagetarian dishes. It was truly fine dining. The tables were set with candle light and a small bouquet of flowers. There was a pair of musicians on the side playing bouzoukis. We finished dinner with a glasss of wine as we sat outside on the covered patio and watched the sunset. My husband suggested dessert and I suggested a chocolate covered strawberry.
To top off what was already very a romantic evening, we enjoyed a boat cruise around the bay. They sat us at a table on the upper deck. It was lovely as the soft breeze blew across the boats deck the rest of the evening. It was a completely enchanting experience.
After the cruise, we headed to the beach that was just outside the reastaurant. Although we were both a bit tired, the barefoot walk through the sand was romantic. We listened to the waves and talked as we walked. The thought of one more chocolate covered strawberry was enough to keep moving across the beach and backto the resaurant where we parked. We had a really great time and continued to enjoy the gift basket chocolates for another week.
